Special Educational Needs ( SEN ) Teacher
These teachers are specially trained to work with Children and Young Adults who need extra support or require an advanced programme of education in order to complete their learning successfully
Eg You may work with an individual who is physically disabled , or who has sensory impaired speech or language difficulty eg Dyslexia – behavioural difficulties or have a combination of these disabilities. An SEN Teacher may also work with gifted and talented individuals .
The key aspects of this work is identifying individual needs and being responsible for creating , safe stimulating and supportive learning environment.
SEN Teachers training options available to them are following on from 1 year statutory induction can go on and do a Diploma / Masters in Special Educational Needs, these courses are available on a Part-time / Full Time basis. For more information visit the TDA
There are additional mandatory requirements for SEN teachers who specialise in Teaching Pupils with Visual , hearing or multisensory impairement.
